Hidden Retreat Glamping is a family business ran by Mother and Daughter, Jean and Laura. We have been lucky to live in such a beautiful location at Shotley Grove for nearly 25 years and we are so pleased we can now share it with you.
Jean has been in the tourism/hospitality business since 2003 when she converted our outbuildings into a bungalow style holiday cottage named River's Edge Cottage, making sure she embraced the uniqueness by keeping its original quirky features.
During the Covid 19 pandemic Laura was able to spend more time at home and take more interest in the everyday running of the holiday cottage. It was during this time we realised the potential of using our neglected paddock overlooking the River Derwent to expand the family business.
Our aim was to create a luxury retreat, a place to escape from the pressures of everyday life and relax in an oasis of outstanding natural beauty by the river.
In late 2020 planning permission was submitted and was passed in mid 2021 ready for the works to begin!
This was when our lockdown dream of Hidden Retreat Glamping became a reality.
We quickly started the groundwork's while our luxury pods were being handcrafted to our high specification, ready to be delivered and positioned on site.
We look forward to welcoming our guests to Hidden Retreat Glamping and hope your stay will be a one you will remember for a long time to come!
